He is most often viewed as cold and aloof when people first meet him but once he gets to know someone (and likes them), then he will start to show his more gentle nature. He is very much a family man and is fiercely protective of his loved ones due to the many losses that he has suffered in his life.
He adores his sister in particular and will often be overly protective of girls who remind him of her. He is still desperately searching for both her and a friend of theirs that they met while in captivity in the scientists’ labs. He speaks with a noticeable southern accent that he has yet to get rid of and he doesn’t like it when people call attention to it. He is very sensitive about his girlish appearance and has been known to punch people who make fun or tease him about it. He is definitely an attack first and ask questions later sort of guy; he loves a good brawl every once in a while. John can also be rather blunt and often says things before he thinks about their impact on someone else. Character BackgroundParents: Lucinda and Mark Holiday ( both deceased) Career/Past Careers: Gunslinger, Cowhand, and Farmer. Plus various odd jobs over the years. He is currently working as security guard at the Mall to help pay his way through school. His Early Years: John was born in the town of Green Pastures which is located in what is now Texas. At that time, it was still just a territory of the United States and was not a state yet. His parents, Lucinda and Mark Holiday, had came eastward in search of a better life since living in the big city at that time was difficult. Lucinda had been a seamstress and Mark had been mechanic at a factory before the move west. But when they heard stories of the new territories, they had moved to the territory that would be Texas to start a new life; driven by dream of riches and adventures as people often are.
The trip was long and difficult for the two of them but it was well worth it when they got to the new lands. After they found some good unsettled farmland, the two of them decided to start a family. John was born first and the two of them couldn’t be happier. When John was three years old, his little sister, Cherise, was born. He loved being a big brother and the two of them were very close. Lucinda and Mark were unable to have any more children since Cherise’s birth had been so difficult for Lucinda that the pair were unwilling to risk having any more.
Their lives were very uneventful, not what many would call exciting and John grew bored with this, much to his sister’s annoyance. He joined the local Vigilance Committee (local militia used for law enforcement since the town wasn’t big enough for a Sheriff or Marshall), alongside his father, when he was old enough. This provided him with him with some excitement, more than enough for a so called “Mommy’s Boy” like John; this was his nickname with the local boys. He wasn’t so much that he was one; he just wanted to take care of his family.
One day the Committee was called out to help a local rancher with some stolen cattle. This wasn’t thought to be dangerous since the rancher was often worried of someone stealing his cattle; usually they had just wandered off somewhere so the Committee wasn’t really concerned. They split up to look and John went off alone. As he was searching, he was suddenly attacked by a strange man. Luckily some of the other Committee members heard the noise and scared the guy off. But before he left, John’s attacker claimed that he would return for his “subject”. John was naturally confused but thought nothing of the strange words at the time. The search continued on uneventfully and the cattle were returned safely.
John and his father returned home and went to bed since it was late. John was awakened suddenly when he heard his sister’s and mother’s screaming with a few gunshots that he assumed were his father’s rifle. He jumped out of bed trying to help and grabbed his gun along the way. When he got out of the door, he saw his sister being put into put into a wagon; his parents were unconscious. He tried to fire a shot at the man who had his sister, but he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head and the world went black. Experiments and Separations: When he woke up, he was chained to a wall. He briefly tried the locks to see if he could get out but he didn’t have much success. He sighed and looked around the room to try and figure out where he was. His sister was in the same state as he was, alongside another girl who really didn’t look so good. He still had no idea where they were until the man who had attacked him opened the cell door. He started talking about all that he had planned which horrified John who wanted to save his sister but that proved to be impossible.
And so the experiments began.
They were painful, horrifically painful but none of hurt him near as badly as watching how much they hurt his sister. The experiments stunted her growth making her appear about seven or eight years old. They would often inject strange liquids into them, which is where his vampiric powers/abilities are from. However, he doesn’t know what else they gave him since the data is gone so what else he is or was given may never be found. The scientists were testing was this liquids did and how it affected them; not to mention the numerous drugs they were given to keep them docile. When they weren’t being used for testing and whatnot, the three of them would be locked in the dark cell. They would pass the time by telling stories and talking; they grew close to one another. John grew to care for the other girl, whose name was Aliana, like a little sister even though she was far older than he was.
And as the days passed, the three of them began to plot their escape once they were strong enough.
When the time to put the plan into action came, they sprang. The exact details of what happened have vanished from his memory. All he knows is that he woke up alone and he couldn’t find Aliana or Cherise anywhere. He looked for them for hours until he finally passed out in the snow. He was found by a passerby and taken to the hospital where he found out where he was and what year it was. He discovered he was in Japan and that he had been held captive for many years; his beloved parents were long dead. He struggled with the knowledge that he would never see his parents again and that the world he knew was gone. After a few days in the hospital, he recovered and went on his way. His Life Now: Since then, he’s drifted from place to place searching for his sister and Aliana but he hasn’t had much luck. Especially since Aliana can change her shape at will, which annoys him greatly since it makes it more difficult to find her. He heard rumors of a girl who matched his sister’s description though and that’s what brought him to Alculard. Other: He has many odd abilities that are mostly vampiric in nature but some of them come from something that he has yet to identify.
Mostly, his abilities consist of high healing rate, having a great deal of stamina and strength. These abilities grow stronger when he drinks blood but he hates the taste of it so he avoids it as much as he can. Longevity and near immortality would also fall into this category as well.
He is also quite the marksman, hence the nickname, "Sure Shot Johnny", and he doesn't miss often.(( Note: Yes he is named after a famous Western lawman but he shares nothing else with him and if he does, it is purely unintentional. Just putting this in just in case. You never know what could happen and I don't want to get sued over something stupid. Hence this statement and yes, I realiaze that I'm probably just being paranoid. But I'd rather be safe than sorry.))

Month: March
Season: Spring time is upon us and that means Showings and festivals are coming back to the Alculard campus this year. Come and hang around the Academy Grounds where the Blossoms are coming into bloom. Have a picnic under these magnificent trees and sleep in the soft sweet scent of the flowers you will forget that you have class within an hour. The Reserve is full of life with plants and animals alike. A word of caution some of the baby animals do tend to wander onto the campus grounds. We ask that you do not bother them and allow the Guardians to handle them. The Announcement Board will have a list of all the new upcoming events and Midterm Exam dates. Please remain on time for your classes. New season means new Menu for the cafeteria! Come try and sample the entire buffet before we hit the next season. Well we do have one thing to dread. It is midterm season. Study hard and come support your teams over the summer. The last place you want to be is in the Headmaster's office during your break. But do see the new books and computers in the Library and Commons areas. The garden is in full bloom and so are the Spring veggies and fruits which we use in the cafeteria. Come and smell the new scents of the season and enjoy walking around during the breezy days. Please take your allergy medicine before heading into the gardens. Also it is that time again for physicals and such so please make sure you take them. Spring means in with the new and out with the old. make sure whatever you guys do for dorm cleaning you place in the proper bins and not dumping it on the campus grounds nor in the beach areas. Everyone who is part of the teams of Alculard all coaches have asked that you please continue practice even for you spring break. But follow all protocols and safety procedures.
Weather: It is mostly clear until late afternoon when some clouds dot the sky. It is warm temperatures during the day but it does cool down a bit at night. If you get cold easily you can wear your lighter jackets or wind breakers. Most of the time there is soft gentle breezes throughout the day carrying the coolness of the beach so it doesn't get hot around campus. High school and Middle school you are now permitted to wearing your Spring clothes on the campus.
