Character Background
”Okay my turn to talk! My past isn’t one of those happy go lucky ones. No it’s actually rather dark and depressing. No matter how far I look back I can only remember times when my mother abused me and my big brother. Most of the time my brother tried to protect me but it didn’t always work out that way. But he still got most of the abuse though. I usually got scared at night so I would ask my brother if I could sleep with him in his room since it was the farthest away from the crazy woman I call my mother.
We became very close as I became older. He was all I had. He stopped attending school while I wasn’t old enough so I wouldn’t be alone. I always felt guilty at about that as I got older but I knew there was nothing I could do to convince to the other to go anyway. I’m not sure exactly when but I remember that mom used to be gone for long periods at a time. The only reason we had food to eat was because of my older brother. He had someone managed to convince my mother’s agent to give him the bank account number so we could buy food. He only took out small amounts though despite the fact she didn’t check it regularly. He learned to cook rather well since it was needed for us to survive. Meanwhile after I learned to read I started to read things about the human body so when my mother was home and decided to get angry at us I could treat our wounds somewhat. Haku still got the worst of it though. It always killed me inside that I was to weak to help him. So that’s why I tried to make it up by treating his wounds.
There was one night I will never forget though. One night that I will always regret. Our mother came home drunk and ranting about some dude named Genji and how he was dead. She took it out on us. It got really serious when she grabbed a daggar and came after. I was so scared I couldn’t move. I couldn’t defend myself. Just as she went to slash me with it Haku jumped in front of me and took the hit. A long deep wound ran down his face. There was blood everywhere. He fell unconscious as I finally managed to move my still stiff body to his side. I had shook him lightly begging him to wake up but got no response. I didn’t speak or look at my mom as I managed to find the nearest phone and dialed call emergency services. They came sometime later and took Haku away. I was allowed to ride in the ambulance with them. They asked my mother and I questions. The woman lied to protect her already falling reputation. She told them we had been playing with knives. I was afraid that she might hurt us so I had to just nod and agree. Haku seemed to have the same thoughts because he also said that this was true even though we both knew this would never be true. There was nothing we could do about it though.
Eventually I became old enough to attend school which was a good thing. Less time near that woman. Unfortunately this also meant I didn’t see Haku as much. Life flew by for some time. It seemed to be a little better since I wasn’t always at home like before. Before I knew it my brother had graduated and with honors at that. I was still in school though. By now the abuse had lessened because Haku could defend us. I felt useless though. I couldn’t stand up to the woman like he could.
Haku had promised me that we would run away and get a apartment of our own once he saved enough money. It was supposed to happen right after I turned eighteen. This way I could leave without my mother saying I was kidnapped or something.
This never happened though. Two weeks before I was supposed to turn eighteen, mother managed to get me away. She had been drunk at the time and had said that she needed to go grocery shopping. Haku had been sick and I was worried if I said no that she might try something so I went. Unfortunately she decided to hit a car head on. The people in the other car were killed instantly. I meanwhile had my legs broken in many places. Mother managed to get out with a few bruises and cuts.
I was in a coma for 4 and half months. I only dreamt once the entire time. I saw Haku walking away from me and no matter how much I called he didn’t turn back. When I tried to run after him my legs broke and I couldn’t move. I woke up in the hospital and found out that I may never walk again. I spent about fifteen days in the hospital so the doctors could make sure I was alright. After that I got out and with my new wheel chair I managed to make it back home and found my life savings. I spent it on a plane ticket to the place where Alculard Academy was. I had managed to find out that was where my brother was.”
